After 23 years at Melbourne Veterinary Specialist Centre, Dr Greg Burton has finally decided to hang up his otoscope and retire. We cannot thank Greg enough for his dedication, time and unmatched expertise that he has given over all of these years to MVSC and all of our Dermatology clients and patients. Words cannot describe how much the clinic will miss Greg, however we wish him all the best for the next exciting of his life travelling around Australia in the Caravan.

Greg has now finished as of the end of 2023, please note due to this, the Dermatology department will no longer be consulting out of the Frankston AEC as of 2024.

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus (MRS) is defined by the presence of the mecA gene, a chromosomal gene that encodes production of a modified penicillin-binding protein (PBP2a) that has a low affinity for b-lactam antibiotics, leading to clinical resistance to all of this drug family.

Traditionally chemotherapy is administered at the maximum tolerated dose followed by a break period to allow normal tissues to recover. Metronomic chemotherapy is the continuous, chronic administration of low doses of chemotherapy drugs without break periods.

Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) is the most common cause of myelopathy in dogs. The intervertebral disc consists of a central jelly-like incompressible nucleus pulposus and an outer lamellated annulus fibrosus consisting of collagen fibres that are oriented in such a way as to function as a ligament that permits limited movement in all planes.
